Boar's Apprentice Chef is Made Student of the Year

Gary Campbell, an apprentice chef at The Boar's Head Hotel, has been named 'Student of the Year' by Harrogate College where he was studying Practical Cooking. What is remarkable is that Gary is partially sighted.

Gary (19) has been working at The Boar's Head for over two years. He attended Harrogate College to obtain his NVQ2 in Food Preparation and Cooking which he completed this summer. The award was made for endeavor.

"I am in no way surprised that Gary was awarded Student of the Year", said Marc Guibert, Head Chef. "He works here with a team of six other chefs and his assistance in the kitchen is much valued. He is very keen to learn and not only are we thrilled that he has won this award but feel it is one he thoroughly deserves." Gary Campbell

Gary also helps produce the specialist Braille menus for the restaurant, one of the few hotels in the country to do so.
