Ripley Castle has been home to the Ingilby family for over 750 years.

As a resident of The Boar’s Head, you receive complimentary access into the Castle Gardens  & Grounds for the duration of your visit.

Within the Ripley Castle gardens are the large Victorian walled garden with floral and shrub borders.

Visitors can enjoy a woodland walk or walk around the beautiful Lake through the ancient deer park and take in the Castle views.

If you choose to take a tour of the Castle, there are fascinating stories to be told about the Castle and its inhabitants. Having belonged to the same family for 26 generations, Ripley’s colourful and sometimes gruesome history is well documented. If the Castle walls could talk they would tell the story of kings and queens; civil war and plagues; secrets concealed behind the Knight’s Chamber panelling; the swashbuckling daughter who held Oliver Cromwell at gunpoint in the library, and numerous clandestine affairs. Please note our Castle Guided Tours do not run daily therefore, we recommend to check the tour calendar prior to booking – Click Here
